This is an example of a sketch of a lyrical text brainstorm for a song. This text was never used in the performances, but laid a groundwork for my thinking about a character with whom we were dealing in the performance. There is value even in a discarded text, for it provides a therapy through the excision of the lyrically and performatively weak, but thematically accurate and appropriate. Using another metaphor, such a text is a scaffolding. In making music and performance texts, the specter of a character or an action is often present.
